After Effects Template Guide for Beginners – 04
(simple productivity tips.)
Recently one of my customers Mark, emailed me,saying “Hey, Your after effect projects is great..but
why is it that when I try to render it,I keep getting this error message?”
An error message is,(as everyone knows) how applications communicate their pains to the end user.
In This case the message seemed some what cryptic..
After Effects error: ‘crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in “Glow”’ (the plug-in in question doesn’t matter, it could be some other plug in or plug ins.)
The thing is, a complex fx heavy AE project is a resource hungry beast , and will not spit out your video, unless you throw sufficient computing power at it!
In other words, mark’s computer needed more ram and more CPU power to render his after effects project.
so the solution here – is to
1.shut down all other applications, before rendering your after effects project
2.In a similar vein ,use your windows task manager to shut down all unnecessary processes.
3.finally,press the capslock button on your keyboard to disable video preview – this frees up resources which can be used for the actual render.
Now press that render button, and hopefully no more error messages should show up and after effects should proceed to convert your AEP Template into an uber cool video presentation!
so if you are quite new to using after effects and come face to face with similar issues while trying to render a somewhat complex after effect templates to a video file – use the steps above to placate your application, and if that doesn’t work, it may be time to upgrade your computer!
